What is Yssaia?
Yssaia is a world of fated heroes and abyssal machines -- born both of Kings and Philosophy.
Founded in Summer 2018 by Amaiguri, Yssaia was conceptualized as a contemporary piece, but quickly evolved fantasy and folklore of its own.
Today, with the help of its many contributors, this multimedia project has evolved into a non-Tolkienesque political-drama with games, art, music, fictional languages, short films, and stories both of plausible geopolitics and amorous, Demonic romances.
But, perhaps, what is TRULY next for Yssaia is for YOU to help build it... <3
"Amai, what's going on in Yssaia?"
Since its inception in 2018, Amaiguri (that's me!) has been doing a loooot of writing for what we're calling Untitled Yssaia Game, following the burned assassin girl finding new meaning in a post-War world. We're at about 316k words. It's a big story!
"Untitled Yssaia Game will be a narrative-focused, hand-drawn adventure. Navigate an assassin through her delicate, brutal world after the War annexed her homeland! Delve deep into political dealings, your past trauma, and the Abyss beneath the world." Functionally, it'll be something like To the Moon meets A Short Hike but with a tone closer to Genshin Impact. As of February 2025, Amai ACTUALLY FINISHED a draft of the script for Untitled Yssaia Game!? Like, WHAT?! Incredible. (I made a YouTube video about that here.) Now, she's started on art and editing for our Untitled Yssaia Game (tentatively playing with the title All the Promised Burn) while her music man, RawIce, is doing music. There's still a LOOOOONG way to go, but Amai increasingly feels the call to jump off the deep end, pursue the indie game/indie writer life, and work on Yssaia full time.
