Explore a land of fated heroes, abyssal beasts, & little girls bearing the weight of the world
Elsewhere
Beyond the "known world", beyond the light of the horizon, there are many more types of people and many more creatures and lands. But the precise details of elsewhere has much still to be discovered...
The Working History of Elsewhere...
Millennial ago, the Great Abyssal Ravine separated some Selkies from the rest of Yssaia. They turned to the Goddess of Ephemera for help, who guided them across the sea in exchange for their seal skins. They settled new homes on the lower continent of this new land -- these people with their dark hair dappled skin became the Shen. However, some felt incomplete without their skins --saying their skins were their souls -- and begged for them back. Angry at their betrayal, she returned them burned to ashes -- and the A'Shen were born along with their Faces.
The nomadic Shen quickly spread throughout the lower continent with the help of an ice age, but were separated from other subgroups and soon all developed their own cultures.
High in the City of Athanasia. the Goddess of Eternity ruled over her uptight, rules-driven Celestials. Her clever Chamber had trade agreements with many Shen groups and so some settled in the rich city. But they were bad at following the rules and couldn't make money -- even if they were taught carefully. They even brought in a plague called Ysse Rejection with all their gluttonous, salacious spice trading.
So one day, a terrorist group of A'Shen exploded the pillar that the city is on and the whole thing crashed into the Abyss. Or it would have if the Goddess hadn't expended all her energy to keep it all from blow up. She sleeps now, beneath the city, as she recovers and her Chamber holds her place in the Tilted City of Athanasia.
On the Gods of Elsewhere...
The Godlings of Ephemera and Eternity have visited the known world very infrequently. Their cosmic dance seems far more concerned with the shadows of elsewhere, but their words of power and stranglehold on time itself can be seen in the fabric of reality the world round.
